The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) had plans to develop a new project designated as the U.S. Route 460 Corridor Improvements Project. The proposed project was procured in accordance with the provisions of the Public-Private Transportation Act (PPTA). On December 20, 2012, VDOT reached a commercial and financial close with US 460 Mobility Partners (a partnership of Ferrovial Agroman, S.A. and American Infrastructure) and the Route 460 Funding Corporation of Virginia to finance, design and build the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project entailed the new construction of approximately 55 miles of four-lane divided limited access bypass highway between Petersburg and Suffolk, VA. The project will be a tolled facility with these funds being collected and used to pay for project costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project was planned to extend from the existing U.S. Route 460 near its interchange with Interstate 295 (I-295) in Prince George County to the U.S. Route 58 bypass just south of the existing U.S. Route 460 in the city of Suffolk. The corridor alignment for this project was planned to run south of the existing U.S. Route 460 with seven planned interchanges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project had been approved by the Commonwealth Transportation Board and was proceeding with status approaching the right-of-way acquisition stage when the project was cancelled due to natural resources and other environmental concerns. The project is now being studied by VDOT for consideration of alternatives to construct the eastern portion of the planned roadway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bowman\u2019s role in the P3 project included topographic and property survey for the eastern half of the 55-mile project, preliminary right-of-way acquisition services for the majority of the project and lead engineering of Segment C (eastern third) including roadway, stormwater management and drainage design, structural engineering and utility relocation services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
